The recommended storage times for egg products

If you are used to buying frozen egg, keep in mind that you should consume it within one year. In principle, you should notice a use-By date indicated in the storage. You should also make sure to take this into account.

But if you happen to buy a liquid egg product such as liquid egg yolk that presents any expiration date, remember that it can be stored at 40° or below within 7 days and not more.

If the package is opened, you should consume it all within three days. Also, it is to be known that it os not healthy to freeze opened cartons. It is not also safe to refreeze frozen cartons that have already been thawed.

Otherwise, if you don’t open the package of your dried egg product, you can store it at room temperature but in cool and dry area. Once you open it, keep it refrigerated. And ideally, you should use it that day.

Time duration of pasteurized egg in the refrigerator

Expired eggs: edible or not?

Affordable and nutritious, eggs are staple food that is present in every household. But sometimes, you may forget them for weeks in the fridge. There, you may wander if they are still safe to eat, especially if you see an expiry date in the package.

If you have stored the eggs well, that is to say, in the fridge, without any crack or failure in the shell, you can eat them even if they are expired. But, if there is some contamination or problems in the storage, it may contain some bacteria that are not good for health.

In order to be sure you are preparing a safe egg, you should make sure to master the difference between expired eggs but safe and the ones that are spoiled.

How to shell fresh eggs

Before storing the eggs, you should wash them properly and make sure there’s any fissure in it. Within your fridge on, it can be stored up to 5 weeks. In fact, in comparison with other perishable protein, eggs present longer shelf-live.

But sometimes, you may be hesitant once you are in the aisles of the supermarket and you don’t see the date labels that should indicate the date of production or release of the egg. The thing is that you cannot have a sure reference of the time the egg has already been stored. As a consequence, you cannot guess how long you can store it at home before it gets spoiled.

So, it is always important to keep an eye on the date labels. Depending on the regulation of your country and on the egg’s producer, you may see “best-by”, “sell-by” or EXP for expiry date and pack date that indicates the date when the eggs has been processed and packed.
