World Transfer news LIVE: Arsenal lead Abraham race, Liverpool make Saul bid, plus Varane latest

There is little over a month left in this summer's transfer window and things are starting to heat up.

The Euros are something of a distant memory as the start of the Premier League season edges closer and the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea look to do some serious business.

Latest reports suggest Liverpool are hot on the heels of Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez and could part with either Jordan Henderson or Xherdan Shaqiri to make the deal happen.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are ready to bring Chelsea's Tammy Abraham to the Emirates on an initial loan deal, freeing up room for the Blues to land Dortmund's Erling Haaland.

Reds consider Kessie move

Liverpool are among those eyeing a move for AC Milan star Franck Kessie, according to Gazzetta dello Sport

The Reds are looking to bolster their midfield options and Kessie has been identified as a potential target.

Gini Wijnaldum left for PSG recently leaving Jurgen Klopp light in the middle of the pitch.

DONE DEAL: Gray seals Everton switch

Demarai Gray has sealed a return to the Premier League after signing a three-year deal at Everton with the option of a fourth, the Toffees have announced.

The 25-year-old former Leicester winger, who has joined the club from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen for an undisclosed fee, is new manager Rafael Benitez’s third signing this week.

Gray, now in Orlando with the rest of the squad for the Florida Cup, told Everton’s website: “I’m delighted to be back in the Premier League at such a big club and I’m excited to play with the team and get to work.”

No Rice bids

West Ham have not yet received any bids for Declan Rice, claims talkSPORT.

The Hammers midfield was a standout for England at Euro 2020 and has attracted admiring glances in recent years.

Chelsea and Man Utd have both been linked with moves, but neither appear to have backed up that interest as of yet.

Liverpool make opening Saul bid

Liverpool have been linked with Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez over the past few weeks and they have reportedly firmed up that interest with an official bid.

According to Spanish outlet Diario Sport, Liverpool have made a first move with a bid of £34.5m (€40m) plus one of Shaqiri or Jordan Henderson.

It was previously reported that Atletico Madrid were negotiating to swap Saul for Barcelona ’s Antoine Griezmann, but that deal is now off the cards.

Atleti manager Diego Simeone has addressed Saul’s future - and it seems he would be willing to let the 26-year-old go this summer.

“I have spoken with him and we cannot put aside what is rumored and talked about,” he told AS.

“If he has to leave, [we] give him a big hug, wish him the best with the boys who gave us life and to continue being friends, as always. Either to Barcelona or elsewhere.”

Leeds complete Bate signing from Chelsea

Leeds have announced the signing of Lewis Bate from Chelsea.

The midfielder has put pen to paper on a three-year-deal at Elland Road, running until the summer of 2024.

He was signed for an undisclosed fee.

Liverpool most likely destination for Aouar

Houssem Aouar is a player who has long been rumoured to move to the Premier League - and it appears he may finally get his wish this summer.

The Lyon midfielder has been linked with Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United, but it is Arsenal who have long courted him.

French outlet le10sport reports that Lyon will not ‘clearly not be able to refuse a transfer’ if an offer of £30m (€35m) is tabled and says ‘greatest probability remains [with] Liverpool’.

That’s because Wijnaldum’s departure means Klopp needs a replacement, whereas United are only able to stump up the cash if Paul Pogba leaves for PSG.

Liverpool flirted with Aouar back in 2019 and, now aged 23, could be ready to move to Anfield.

Bowen emerges as shock Liverpool target

Origi and Shaqiri are both up for sale, but Liverpool are yet to receive any serious bids for the unwanted duo, despite Lazio’s interest in the Swiss international.

In an ideal world, both would find new clubs and the club would try to repeat the success of the £45m deal for Diogo Jota.

A new candidate for that high-quality back-up role is West Ham ’s Jarrod Bowen, with The Athletic reporting that his name is on a shortlist of potential new signings this summer.

The 24-year-old winger caught the eye of Liverpool’s scouts with eight goals and five assists in 38 league appearances last season and his age, versatility and playing style reportedly fit the bill.

Bowen would not come cheap. He only joined West Ham from Hull City for a fee of £18m, which could potentially rise to £25m, in January 2020 and is under contract until June 2025.

Chelsea make Domenico Berardi enquiry

According to reports in Italy, Chelsea have enquired about the signing of Domenico Berardi, the Sassuolo forward who impressed during Euro 2020 with his performances for the Azzurri.

It would take quite the proposal to lure the striker away from his current club, given he has only ever played for Sassuolo and once famously rejected a move to Juventus despite the fact Juve co-owned Sassuolo from 2013-2015.

Sportitalia have claimed that Chelsea are one of a number of sides monitoring the 26-year-old's situation, with both Borussia Dortmund and West Ham also linked with a move.

Berardi enjoyed a fantastic campaign for Sassuolo last term, notching 17 goals and providing a further eight assists in 30 Serie A appearances.

The Italy international has two years left to run on his current contract, meaning this summer presents Sassuolo with what is likely to be their last real chance to get big money for him, as sides will aim to haggle the figure down next summer knowing he'd be leaving for free the following summer.

Arsenal eye cut-price Neto deal

Barcelona's shotstopper Neto is the subject of interest from Arsenal, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Mat Ryan joined the Gunners on loan last term but has now headed to pastures new leaving Arteta seeking more reinforcements in between the sticks.

Bernd Leno remains the No 1, although reports have suggested the club would listen to offers for the German.

The Catalans were looking for £12m when Arsenal made an approach for the 32-year-old earlier this year, but could now accept less as they desperately look to slash their wage bill.

Neto still has two years left on his Barcelona deal.

Arsenal lead Abraham race

Arsenal are heading the queue of clubs looking to sign Chelsea's Tammy Abraham this summer, according to The Sun.

The Blues striker is set to leave Stamford Bridge having struggled for opportunities under Thomas Tuchel.

Several Premier League sides have expressed an interest in Abraham, with Tottenham and West Ham also keen.

Arsenal look to have put themselves in pole position however with a loan deal agreed with Chelsea provided a £40m obligation-to-buy clause is included in the deal

The 23-year-year old finds himself some way down the Chelsea pecking order and will have to leave if he wants to continue his development.

At times Abraham was completely left out of matchday squads by Tuchel and the Blues are looking to add another striker in the coming weeks.

Arsenal eye cash-plus-player bid for Maddison

Arsenal are prepared to offer Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles as part of an offer to land Leicester's James Maddison.

The Foxes playmaker is a key target for the Gunners this summer as they look to land a new no. 10, reports

Mikel Arteta saw Martin Odegaard return to Real Madrid following his loan spell and it seems unlikely that the Norwegian will head back to the Emirates.

Maddison has shown himself to be a highly influential part of Brendan Rodgers' side when fit.

The Daily Mail reports that it would take a bid of £50m to land the former Norwich man, but they may look to offer cash-plus-players to sweeten the deal.

Napoli keen on Chelsea defender Emerson

Continuing with the theme of departures rather than arrivals, Chelsea defender Emerson is reportedly the subject of interest from Serie A outfit Napoli.

The full-back is a peripheral figure at Stamford Bridge, rarely earning a sustained period of first-team minutes during his time at the club.

Napoli are thought to be willing to part ways with as much as £8.5m for the Italy international, who was handed the chance to strut his stuff for his nation during their semi-final and final clashes at Euro 2020 after filling in for the injured Leandro Spinazzola.

Joining from Roma in 2018, Emerson has started just 23 Premier League games for the Blues, featuring just twice in the league last season, both appearances coming off the bench.

Given he now finds himself below both Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso in the left-back pecking order, it is likely that Emerson would welcome a return to Serie A.

Tammy Abraham urged to leave Chelsea

Despite a stellar first full season in Chelsea colours during Frank Lampard's only full campaign at the club, Tammy Abraham has quite clearly fallen out of favour under boss Tuchel.

The striker did not feature in either of the club's two major finals at the back end of the season, an unused substitute for the Champions League final victory, before failing to make the matchday squad for the FA Cup final defeat against Leicester City.

Now, the 23-year-old has been told to leave the club by former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino, who was assertive in his view the striker must call time on his Blues career.

"Tammy is a player who a lot of clubs will want. Whether it's a loan deal, I'm pretty sure Chelsea will want a big deal elsewhere," he told talkSPORT.

"They'll probably want £40m or £50m for him, which might be a big ask in the present climate. But Tammy's got to play. It's a big issue if you just sit it out. He's ended up going down the pecking order.

"He wasn't even in some of the squads at the end of the season was he. So it's obvious that Tuchel isn't going to have him as part of his plans, certainly his first 11."(with inputs from agencies)
