China has cautioned the US it could take "firm counter-measures" if Washington keeps on indicating support for genius popular government dissenters in Hong Kong.
The admonition came after US President Donald Trump marked the Human Rights and Democracy Act into law.
The demonstration orders a yearly audit, to check if Hong Kong has enough independence to legitimize exceptional status with the US.
Mr Trump is at present looking for an arrangement with China, so as to end an exchange war between the two nations.
